Discipleship Kick-Off

BE CHURCH
www.roswellpres.org

Most of you headed back to school at some point in the last few days! We are so excited for you to begin another year and have been praying for every child to have a safe, happy school year! RPC is even more excited for all of our wonderful children and families to begin another year of programing with us! This coming Sunday, August 18, we are kicking off Sunday school for preschool and elementary children. It is going to be a busy and exciting morning as we prepare for another wonderful year of serving the Lord and growing stronger in our faith. Look for letters in the mail this week about all of the exciting things happening on August 18 as well as throughout the fall.

Our theme for Discipleship this year is, Be Church. We're going to be looking at what it means to be a church family. We are very excited about this theme and for all of our Sunday Discipleship studies to revolve around this.

Sunday morning, preschoolers and kindergartners will report directly to their Sunday school rooms on the preschool or elementary hall at 9:45a.m where they are also picked up at 10:45a.m. This is the process for preschoolers for the entire year. Kindergartners will continue to meet in their rooms through October 6. October 13 will be their first morning reporting directly to the Gym for G.P.S., our awesome time of music and lesson introductions for our younger elementary children.

1st-3rd graders will report directly to the Gym at 9:45a.m for G.P.S. They should be picked up from their assigned classrooms.

4th-5th graders will report to room 211 on the elementary hall for 45th, for our brand new, super fun time of fellowship, music, and study for our elementary children.

*All elementary children and parents should proceed to the check-in tables in their areas to confirm registration information, parent contact information, child allergy or special needs notes, etc. From there your child will proceed to meet their class and Sunday school teachers.

Also on August18 we will have a 'Blessing of the Backpacks' in 11:15 worship. Children are invited to bring their school backpacks up for the Moment with Children to be blessed for the upcoming year.

Families are invited to join us back at RPC on August 18 for a fun-filled afternoon of inflatables, dinner, and fellowship with your church family! There will be time for children on the inflatables from 4:30-6p.m. Dinner will be served from 5-6p.m. Youth are invited to enjoy the inflatables from 6-7:30p.m. We will provide hot dogs and drinks. Please bring a side or dessert to share!

Let us know if you do not receive the elementary letter in the mail and would like to be added to our mailing address!

Fall 2013 onCore!

Wednesdays for Kids!

Term 1: August 21, 2013 - November 20, 2013

Even if you are an onCore veteran, look over this information! There are lots of exciting changes happening to onCore this year!

Building relationships is what onCore is all about!

onCore is our Wednesday evening program for children!
The onCore program provides in-depth, well-rounded Christian nurture for
children. It encourages the growth of church-family relationships which bond the entire congregation into an authentic community of faith. OnCore does not replace Sunday School or Worship; rather, it enhances the overall church experience and faith development for children and families.

The participation of parents is critical to the success of onCore. At least one parent from each family participating is required to help with the program. This not only provides the staffing necessary to provide an excellent experience, but it also demonstrates the parents’ belief in the importance of the Christian
nurture to the children. Participation can be achieved in a variety of ways.

All volunteers are required to attend a volunteer training session in order to meet with your leadership team member, receive needed materials, hear and sign our Child Protection Policy, etc. We will have 2 options this year:
Thursday, August 15, 6:30-7:30p.m.
Sunday, August 25, 8:30-9:30a.m.
childcare available at both sessions. Please let us know which session you will attend.

What Happens at onCore?

Children begin the evening at 4:45p.m. with family-style dinner in the Fellowship Hall. They receive a table assignment with other children and ‘table parents’. These groups enjoy their dinner together, talk about their days, and play a table game.

At 5:25p.m. children disperse to either choir or Bible time for 25 minutes, then switch to the other activity. Bible lessons on Wednesdays this year are going to be expansions of the lessons done on Sunday mornings in Sunday school with the Grow. Proclaim. Serve curriculum. Bible lessons will follow more of a rotation-model which will help children dig deeper into the Bible story they heard on Sunday through video episodes, games, activities, and more!

Extended electives for elementary children begin at 6:30 p.m. in their respective rooms and switch at 7p.m. Dismissal happens at 7:30p.m. for children who stay through extended electives.

6:30-7p.m.: F2 Leadership for 4th and 5th Graders, Drums, Art
7-7:30p.m.: Hand Chimes, Basketball/Recreation

*Changes to fees this year: Costs of onCore will apply to 3-year-olds. 3-year-olds will have a more directed Bible time this year and will be following the same curriculum/Bible stories as the preschool and elementary onCore children. Nursery children continue to be free of charge including dinner (only available to volunteers). You must still make childcare and nursery meal reservations for your children under 3 years old.
